久しぶりにQotDに答えます。。。

野茂英雄の試合を一回見ました。1995年のプレーオフ、ドジャーズがCincinattiに来ていたので、昼は大学から友だちの車で往復2時間以上かけてチケットを買って、夕方に試合を見ました。

10月6日、すでに二試合落としているドジャーズはもう崖っぷち。そして奇跡は起きず、５回なげて自責点が５個。野茂のルーキーシーズンの最初の試合を見たんだね。。。

野茂英雄はアジア人野球選手に対する様々な偏見（悪意が無いものが殆どだったが）を崩していったと思います。

日米通算201勝などすばらしい成績を残した野茂英雄投手が現役引退を表明しました。野茂投手のイメージや思い出、日本人大リーガーについての思いを教えてください。

What's your favorite appetizer to order at a restaurant?

If someone's willing to pay them that money, then sure they deserve every penny.  If the owners of the franchises are making good money, then the players do deserve to get their share of the profits.  Ichiro's getting close to 20MM USD a season starting next year, but the Mariners' felt he was worth that much and more in money they'll make, so more power to them.  Actually MLB should be paying part of Ichiro's salary considering that international profits are divided by all teams.

Do professional athletes make too much money, or do they deserve every penny?  Why?

The PS3 without a doubt.  I own a PS3 and I also have a Wii and borrowed a 360 for a while.  The PS3 tops the list.

What's the greatest video game console on the market? Do you own it or is it on your wish list?

Browsing through the answers for this QotD was probably the most interesting part of it.  It does seem that the standards of excellence expected in Karaoke are a lot higher stateside than in Japan.

Over here there's always someone in the group who's surprisingly good and occasionally someone who's REALLY good.  Other than that, the expectations are low and we all just belt out the songs we want to sing without really worrying about the repercussions.   For example. . .I'll either try to sing I Remember You or Coming Home whenever I go out.  I'm pretty darn sure I butcher both of the songs, but folks have been nice to me. . .

Anyway. . .song that should never show up on a karaoke list?  Wilson Phillips?  I just feel so dirty whenever I listen to their tunes. . .

そりゃ、Golden State Warriorsがウェスタンカンファレンスのプレイオフの第1ラウンドでDallas Mavericksに勝ったことですよ。それと。。。Marinersがシーズンのこの時期でまだ善戦していること。

そろそろ今年の折り返し地点の6月。この半年で一番印象に残った出来事を教えてください。

給料日後の贅沢など月一回だけでも楽しみにしている事はありますか？

だまされたことあるんだろうね、騙したことは細かいところで何回も。今日もついさっき。。。

Yeah, I've been cheatd on, it sucked, but it wasn't worth dwelling on. . .it probably was more painful for her than me anyway.  I don't think I've ever cheated on anyone, I have had my heart flutter at times, but I've never crossed the line (though I'm sure the border is always under dispute).

中学生の時にオーバーヘッドキックの着地を失敗して鎖骨を折った。折れているのが分からなくて（痛かったけどまさかおれているとは）3日目にやっと医者に行ったら、レントゲンで折れている片方が皮膚に刺さっていた。郊外にいたので3日後都内に戻ったときに病院に行って、また折った後に正しい場所に骨を戻された。これが痛くなかった。ちなみに今は右と左の肩のラインがかなり違います。どっちを折ったのでしょう？

I broke my collar bone in junior high during a summer camp.  I was trying for a bicycle kick in a soccer game and landed funny.  It hurt like crazy, but it really didn't occur to me that it could have been broken so it was a few days before I went to the doctor.  The break was a clean one with one of the bones sticking into the skin.  I got the break broken and set once I got back to Tokyo a couple of days later, that actually didn't hurt that much.  The shoulder healed a little weird, so actually my right and left shoulder droop in different ways.  Can you figure out which one I broke just by looking?
