For the record the team is actually the Fighters, not the Ham Fighters.  They are based in Hokkaido and are owned by a company called Nippon Ham.  I've had other English speaking friends who've insisted on calling them the Ham Fighters.  I sort of like the name Ham Fighters more than the Fighters, but then the team name would have to be the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Ham Fighters.

北海道日本ハムファイターズのトレイ・ヒルマン監督がロイヤルズの監督に就任することを聞いた選手の反応なんだけど。チームを「ハム・ファイターズ」とよんでいる。確かに「ファイターズ」よりも「ハム・ファイターズ」の方が面白い、「ベイスターズ」もいるわけだし。しかも、英語圏の友だちでなぜか日ハムの事を「ハム・ファイターズ」と呼んでしまう傾向がある。

英語から見たら面白いニックネームには「スワローズ」もあるけど、これはまた違う機会に。。。

The new South Lake Union Streetcar in Seattle is being called the SLUT.  I don't know what to add to that, or I really even need to. . .
