Beau came wandering into Tokyo yesterday still recovering from his travels in Hawaii. He mentioned yesterday that he was interested in checking out the Tsukiji market today. Since I'm almost always up for a trip to the market I met up with him at Roppongi at 0700 and we took the train over to Tsukiji. What followed was a fairly typical walk through the market, would be nice to go there are couple more times before they move the place. Breakfast was great.

BeauがMovable Type Developer Conference参加のため昨日から東京入りした。築地市場に行きたいと話があり、久しく行っていないため行くことに。0700に合流して築地の方に。移転する前に後何回行けるか。朝ご飯最高だった。

Finally, wandered into the Great Burger the other day. I went to the batting cages at Gaien with Matt and Chris. Matt had not had lunch yet, and as soon as he asked where to go, I answered with,"the Great Burger." Ever since, I had heard of their lamb burger, the place was on my to do list. With an added bonus of the walk from Gaien to Cat Street being a wonderful one, I was both hungry and in a jolly mood when we got to the Great Burger. The Avocado, Mozzarella cheese, Lamb Burger was fantastic. The meat was juicy, and definitely tasted of lamb, but was not overbearing in anyway. The buns were perfect (same as Burger Mania?). Another additional bonus, one of the chefs had a Burger Mania T-shirt. Full set here.
やっと念願のthe Great Burgerに行った。先日 マットとクリスと神宮外苑のバッティングセンターに行った。110キロでも130キロでもあまり前に飛ばなかったけど、充実感を味わえた。マットがまだ昼食べてなかったので、彼から問いかけがあったら""the Great Burger"と即答。ラムバーガーの存在を聞いていた瞬間から行きたかった場所へ遂に！外苑からキャットストリートへの散歩も気持ちよくお店に着いたときにはお腹も空いていて気分もハイ。注文したアボカド・モッツァレラ・ラムバーガーも最高。完全に羊だけど、臭くなく、美味しい。店員の人がバーガーマニアのT-シャツ着ていた。写真はここ。

Went to Burger Mania last night with a friend from Yahoo! JAPAN. I've actually been to Burger Mania five times in the last week, and I was hoping to break the cycle, but the friend really wanted to try out the allegedly amazing burgers from Burger Mania, and a good burger is a good thing to have.
昨晩もバーガーマニア、今度はヤフーの友だちが行きたいとの事で、行った。これで、ここ1週間で5回目だ。美味しいから嬉しいが。
I had been wanting to try out their veggie fritters, so we got those as an appetizer and I really was in the mood for a patty melt and asked the owner if he could put one together. The owner obliged and the result was a patty melt as interpreted by Burger Mania. Not quite the same as the patty melts that I remember, but tasty nonetheless.
先週お店の方に野菜のフリッターが美味しいと言われたので、アペタイザーに。どうしてもパティメルトが食べたくて、メニューに無いけどオーダーしてみる。そして出てきたのがバーガーマニア版のパティメルト。オーソドックスなパティメルトとは違うのだが、当然美味しかった。
After dinner, we meandered down to cafe tenement for further conversation and a ground soybean parfait.デザートはcafe tenementできなこパフェ。
Shuwa's in town this week for training. He's got a curfew at the dorm he's staying out, so we met up for lunch on the weekend instead. His choice was Cravings in 麻布十番, so I walked out there to meet him and the Yano family also joined in.
There was some kind of International schools alumni event at Sacred Heart so after lunch we meandered over to Hiroo to check things out.
The highlight of the day was the great Patty Melt at Cravings.
It was raining cats and dogs in the morning, but things were pretty calm by the time I met up with Gen to have lunch at Pita the Great. After lunch I headed to the Apple Store in Shibuya where the iPod Genius checked out my iPod Classic, declared a mechanical failure and replaced it with a new one.
BTW, Gen is having a heck of a difficult time with his Movable Type blog since Dreamhost has shut down his mt-comments.cgi. There's a grand plan being hatched to fix this, but since I'm doing the hatching any other ideas from other more knowledgable folks (WINK! WINK!), would be appreciated.
朝には土砂降りだった雨も昼頃には殆どやんでいた、 Gen と赤坂のPita the Greatで合流. 昼ご飯の後は渋谷のアップルストアでiPod ClassicをiPod Geniusに診断される。「機械故障」、「初期不良」のワンツーで新しいiPod Classicに交換。途中iPhoneの話を軸にアップルの秘密主義、Nokia N95の素晴らしさ、MacBook Airが中途半端で駄目な事などを会話する。
ついでにだが、Genは最近自身のMovable Typeブログで非常に困っている。Dreamhostがmt-comments.cgiをブロックしたからコメントを受けられない。直す計画もたてているけどたてているのが僕だから、不安はある。もう少しMovable Type知っている人が周りいたらなー。。。。がはははは。 ブログで初めて顔文字を使ってみる 。 σ(^◇^;)
And the pitas were once again magnificent. Though the streak of people going to Pita the Great and declaring that the guy needs staff continues.
ピタは激うま、ただしあのお店はもう一人でも良いからスタッフが必要。
ユーチンとミシェルから広尾の商店街にZestが出来ると聞いていたけど、先日見たら、Zest CantinaではなくてZestブランドのバーガー屋さんらしい。今日試そうと決めて家を出発、玄関出た直後、Burger Maniaに行きそうになったが、我慢して広尾まで歩く。ホームワークスのすぐ近くに開店しているZestのバーガー、これで広尾ではHomeworks、マクドナルド、Zestとバーガーの選択肢が3つに（もっとあったっけ？）。
I had an avocado burger with fries and the fries were great. In fact I love fries like this, homecut in the morning (I'm assuming), they were nice and sweet and tasty. The burger wasn't bad, the patty was small and tasted a lot like Homeworks. In other words, Burger Mania definitely delivers a better burger than Zest. BTW, there's a line in their homepage, "All homemade in house". The Japanese is, "all vegetables are fresh," in the store the Japanese under the English stated that "all vegetables are domestic." The veggies were good, I just didn't see a garden on the premise where they were growing them.
アボカドバーガーのセットを頼んだけど、フライドポテトが美味しかった。こういうポテト大好き、甘くって味がしっかりしていて美味しかった。バーガーもまーまー、ホームワークスの肉を少なくした感じ。ただ、バーガーマニアの方がハンバーガーは美味しい。はい。
Went out to Burger Mania last night, this time with the Kanai family and CGM. There burgers were great and I also come sometimes just to get some veggies.
CGM and Gen aren't to crazy about burgers of the Homeworks variety, stating that they must use frozen patties, but they both said that the Burger Mania burgers were great.
The desserts here are pretty great to, after dinner I was trying to explain a Cheesesteak sandwich to the owner. One of my dreams were realized when a burger joint opened thirty seconds from my house, I might be pushing my luck by trying to realize another dream.
I also like their doggie bags. The one disappointment is that they don't have a separate space for non-smokers. The stench of cigarettes does ruin the great burgers.
昨晩、またBurger Maniaで晩ご飯、今回はカナイ夫妻と元上司のCGMさんと一緒に。一緒に行った他店のバーガーに関しては「肉が美味しくない」と言い切っていたCGM（Genもそう思っていたらしい）だったが、Burger Maniaのバーガーは美味しい!!!と行っていた（余談ですが「おしぼり下さい」を「おひさしぶり下さい」と言うような方なのです）
僕はバーガーを毎日食べていては身長は伸びずに体重は増えてしまうので、野菜だけを食べて帰ることが多い。今回もアボカドベーコンチーズバーガーを我慢してアボカドチーズバーガーを頼んだ（同じような物だけど）。
家から歩いて30秒の所にバーガー屋さんが出来たのは夢のような事であるけど、帰り際にチーズステーキサンドウィッチについてオーナーの方と話してみる。
唯一残念なのが禁煙では無いこと、せっかくの食べ物がタバコの匂いでまずく感じるときもある。

Met a friend at Jiyugaoka today, she wanted pasta and I wanted to continue my trip of hamburger discovery.
Palm's Cafe was close to the station so we ducked in there for lunch.
自由が丘でご飯、パスタ希望と宣言が出て、僕はハンバーガー探索を続けたかったので Palm's Cafeに行く。入り口入ってすぐのところでフックンがハワイアンシャツを着て撮影されていた。
ハンバーガーは美味しくって（あんなに入っているのに崩れないなんて）、フレンチフライもほぼ完璧。ハンバーガーとフレンチフライ両方ちゃんとやっているお店はそこまで多くない（と感じる）。ハンガーガーが美味しくってもフレンチフライがいまいちなお店が半分ぐらいだと感じています。
自由が丘の駅で降りるのは久しぶりだけど、あまり変わっていない。
会社の近くにある行列が出来ているラーメン屋さん、二代目つじ田。そこまで並ぶ行列でもないけど、気になっていたので、早く昼に出て試す、それでも一〇分以上は並ぶ。
券売機でラーメンを頼んだ後にお薦めを聞くと、つけめんだった、つけめんにかえる。美味しかった。魚介系スープで美味しいと思ったのは久しぶりです。
Ramen, Fun, Nidaime Tsujita. Nothing to add here really, as the picture below speaks a thousand words (mostly about my laziness). Still, the combination of a fish based broth and the citrus that you squeeze into the noodles is great. Definitely worth considering for my top twenty ramen spots in Tokyo list.
