Tokyo Yakult Swallows

I wrote a little about this on my previous post about the Ham Fighters, no one asked me for a follow up, but the most unfortunate team name for a professional sports team in Japan probably is the one for my favorite baseball team in Japan, the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. 

This means that if you go to watch the Swallows in their conveniently located but decrepit home stadium in downtown Tokyo, you get to see the many fans of the Swallows (like their "team manager" to the left) wearing the Swallows uniform with the "Swallows" on the front resulting in the effect below.

Being an innocent, I didn't realize the full force of this unfortunate name and was disappointed when friends visiting from overseas would not purchase until a friend explained to me why he could never purchase a female friend this uniform.  Hopefully the team will make more uniforms with either "Yakult " (the company that owns the Swallows) or "Tsubame/ツバメ/燕" (the team name in Japanese).

前回書いた記事にharameguからコメントあるから書いちゃったけど、僕が大好きな「東京ヤクルトスワローズ」。このニックネームは心が汚れている人から見ると実に残念なイメージが湧いてしまう。是非球団側には名前を「東京ヤクルト燕」にかえることを検討して欲しいです。
