QotD:全部私のパソコンです/All My computers

今７台あります、実際使うのは1-2台。I've got seven, but I only use one/two of them.

（こんなに長くなると思わなかった、こんなにおいてあるのはそんなに珍しくないどろうけど、こうやって全部見ていくとおもしろいね。Didn't think I'd write so much about my computers, but going back over what I've got at home has been a lot of fun.）

1. メインデスクトップのゲートウェイ君 (右側)、一度日本から撤退したGatewayだけど、僕はいつか戻ってくる日を信じてデスクトップは買わないルールを守っていた。このコンピュータを買った時はかなりうれしかったはず。ビックカメラから持ち帰る時は楽しくなかったけど。  My main desktop, the Gateway on the right.  Gateway had given up on Japan before after I bought my first desktop from them, I wasn't going to by another desktop until they came back and so when I got this guy, I was pretty psyched, I wasn't as happy when I was carrying it home though.
   
2. その前のメインデスクトップだった、知り合いから譲り受けたソーテック君、Gatewayラブ（とお金がなくて）で新しいデスクトップ買えてなかった僕にとってはかなり重要なコンピュータ。Windows Vista Beta 2入れたまま放置している。A Sotec clunker that was my main desktop before which I got from a friend.  This guy was a lifesaver for me as I was not purchasing a new desktop out of my allegiance to Gateway (and the whole in my wallet).  I've installed Windows Vista Beta 2 on this guy and then forgotten about him.
   
3. その前のメインデスクトップで5年近く使っていた初代ゲートウェイ君(左側 GP7-500)、サラリーマンになって初めて買った大きな買い物、当時２０＋万したけど今のGW君は20インチのワイドスクリーン（デル）いれてもその半分ぐらい。My first main desktop at home on the left in the pict, my first major purchase when I became a working man.  It cost about 2000 dollars back in the day (1999), my current GW cost about half as much with a 20 inch widescreen monitor,hmmm
4. うのさんにいただいたHDDが壊れていたソニーのPCG-R505/SP、余っているHDDに換えてFedora5入れて放置中。A SonyPCG-R505/SPthat I got from Uno-san, the hard disk on it was dead, so I replace it with a spare I had and installed Fedora 5 in it, and then left it in the corner of my room.
   
5. ヤフオクで買ったPCG-SRX3/BD、何処にでも運べて色々遊べるやすいノート探していてちょうどやすい感じがしたから、買ってしまった。昔、PCG-SRX7S/PBを持っていて結構気に入っていたから、このシリーズのバイオがまたほしくなっていた。兄のコンピュータが死んだので以前のバイオは譲った。今回のバイオは自分ではあまり使わなかったけど、他の人へのレンタルPCとして活躍、9月までの一年間は日本で研究していた高校の後輩(yaka m)に貸して、今はYu-ChingさんがiMacG4のモニターが死んだから新しい子が届くまでレンタルしている。A Sony Vaio PCG-SRX3/BD that I got at Yahoo! Auctions here in Japan, I wanted a portable laptop that I could use anywhere. . .I used to have a Vaio PCG-SRX7S/PB that was pretty sweet that I gave to my elder brother when his computer died.  I ended up not using this new one that much, but it has proved to be a great rental laptop.  I lent to a friend from high school (yaka m) when she was in Japan doing research and Yu-Ching is currently using it as she waits for her new laptop to arrive (her iMac G4 monitor died).
6. アマゾンにいるときに買ったファーストジェネレーションのiBook G4。これを買った後に周りの新マックユーザーと復帰組がグングン広がっていった。名機だ、これから卒業してPowerbook G4 (12インチ)に移った時に父に譲ったけど、この前ハードディスクが完全にアウト（色々と試みたがだめだった）。父の職場も完全にウィンドウズなのでITの人のサポートも受けられるように父は10数年のAppleユーザーからウインドウズユーザーになりました。職場のウインドウズが使いづらいとずっと言っていたけど、Atokを全ての環境に入れたら、不満が消えた。Lenovoの方が軽いし、頑丈でサポートもAppleよりは良いので、Office、メール時々ネットで検索の父には「Atok+頑丈+比較的軽い=オッケー」。iBookはHDDを入れ替えて、OSを再インストールしたら復活、さてどう使うか。。。Then I have my first generation iBook G4 that I got back when I was at Amazon.  This was/is a great laptop, after I got it and started telling everyone how fantastic it was the number of folks that moved to or back to the Apple fold around me spread (not quite like wildfire but there were quite a few converts).  I moved on to a Powerbook G4 (12 inch) and gave the iBook to my father who was happy after I installed his favorite input system into it.  Unfortunately the iBook recently suffered from a fatal hard disk problem (I tried everything I could find on the web to resurrect it, but nothing worked).  Since my father's workplace was a complete Windows shop and I wanted for his IT people to be able to help in when I was not around, we went for a Lenovo Thinkpad, which had the benefits of being a bit lighter, a wider larger screen, hardier hardware and less expensive.  With his favorite Japanese input system installed, he could have cared less whether it was a Windows or a Mac.
7. そしてPowerbook G4（１５インチ）の最終モデル、この前の代のPowerbookも持っていたけど、うのさんの後押しもあり記念すべき最後のPowerbookに買い換える事に。前のPowerbookはmiumomoさんに譲りました。そういえば、ちょうど一年前に購入した、今日中にAppleCareの登録をしないと。このPowerbookがメインノートです、結構気に入っています、そういえばこのPB君のHDの名前は「Getaway」、母がGatewayではなくていつもGetawayとあの会社を読んでいたから、そして「Getaway」は本当に日本から撤退してしまっていた。My last computer is, the last generation 15 inch Powerbook G4, I had the revision before this one, but sensing that this would be the last one and with the moral support of Uno-san, I purchased this one.  I sold the previous Powerbook I had to miumomo-san, and really like this Powerbook which I purchased exactly a year ago. . .so I should buy the AppleCare package for it today.  BTW, the hard disk on this computer is named "Getaway," I name the hard disks on my main computers Getaway because my mother would always call Gateway, Getaway.  A couple of years later Gateway really did pull out of Japan.
   

会社ではマックブックを使っている、Parallelsを入れてWindows環境も使えるのでかなり好きなコンピュータ。せっかくの黒モデルにはVox Stickerの全色をはっている。I use a MacBook at work these days, I've got Parallels installed on it and use Windows and OSX together all the time.

この他、購入しては売ったノートパソコンも複数。The list of laptops I've purchased and sold is about the same length as this one.
