Kicking the Habit
There are cracks and then, there are cracks. Seems like the white iPod's are starting to develop cracks.
In what appears to be an increasingly common problem, hairline cracks are beginning to form on Apple's new iPhone 3G. While most of the cracks are reportedly affecting the white model, this is likely due to the increased visibility of the dark fracture on the white case as opposed to any differences in materials between the white and black units. At the moment, the issue seems largely cosmetic and doesn't appear to interfere with the operation of the phone. Now bust out the magnifying glass and let us know if you're seeing the same.
I haven't noticed any cracks in my white iPhone, not that I'd notice any cracks besides the cracks that my iPhone already developed. The cracks courtesy of the iPhone getting friendly with the sidewalk in Hiroo. After the incident, I went to the Apple Store in Shibuya, apparently the screen's too cracked to fix. The only fix is to get the phone replaced at the carrier store for 60,000 JPY (600 USD). Fortunately, the iPhone is still functioning normally, I picked up a hard case and will continue to use it as is. Question is. . .if the iPhone were now to "naturally" develop cracks, can I get it replaced for free.
